Visitor Services Assistant, Cultural Arts and Cultural organisation, London, Fixed term temp role until mid-October, £12 p/h plus holiday pay.

Our client, a leading organisation in the cultural and arts world, requires a visitor services assistant to cover a specific and prestigious arts event. You will be working as part of a team operating within a rota system covering the hours of 9am - 11pm.

The key duties of the Visitor Services Assistant role are:

  • Welcome visitors to the establishment
  • Invigilate spaces and ensure that they are clean of litter and presentable and fit for opening to the public
  • Check admission tickets, direct and escort customers to their seats and ensure no unauthorised person gains entry to spaces
  • Acquire a basic knowledge and answer as many visitor queries as possible
  • Provide all information in a style appropriate for the visitor's concerned
  • Be on duty in the auditoria throughout performances, issue programme notes and supervise the exit of the audience
  • Notify the wider team of any faults, defective equipment or incidents and assist in dealing with them as appropriate
  • Ensure fire exits and escape routes are free from obstructions and that patrons observe the rules
  • Support box office including selling tickets, memberships and other items on the ticketing sales system
  • Staff external box offices as needed
  • Ahere to all policies and policies and procedures at all times

Skills and Requirements

  • Experience of customer service at a venue
  • Proactive and customer focused approach delivered within a best practice framework
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues in relation to public venues
  • Confident approach & excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
  • Initiative, flexibility and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A keen interest in film, media or visual arts
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Able to work flexibly include working evenings and weekends
  • A proven track record of promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion
