Primary Objective of Position

The supplier quality engineer supports all functions of the supplier quality program including qualifications of materials and suppliers, investigating, analyzing, and resolving non-conformances by utilizing robust investigation techniques, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. This role is responsible for the tactical and systematic management of supplier quality and supplier development.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Develop inspection plans for purchased parts to include features inspected, sample size, inspection methodology, and appropriate measurement techniques.
Lead internal reviews of new product outsourced parts and develop part qualification/PPAP requirements.
Review drawings and specifications to ensure adequate product information is present, such as critical characteristics, to clearly communicate Winnebago s requirements.
Compile and maintain supplier metrics, scorecards, and report data to key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Conduct supplier training, quality audits, process audits, and improvement events.
Perform part inspections, identify, contain and document rejected parts, and communicate to all necessary departments. Process returns to supplier parts for return authorization and paperwork.
Notify suppliers of non-conformances and issue corrective actions (DMN/SCAR). Work with suppliers to determine root cause and implement timely and effective quality solutions. Review supplier documentation, perform evaluations, and effectiveness checks to verify that the suppliers have implemented corrective actions.
Investigate non-conformances with purchased parts, communicate issues with all pertinent parties, develop solutions and drive conformance with the suppliers.
Follow standard work instructions and complete documentation and records for traceability.
Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base.
Work in a safe manner and follow all company safety policies.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, related technical discipline, or the equivalent of twelve or more years of applicable technical experience
3+ years of experience in a quality engineering role
Working knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, and Problem-Solving tools
Proficient in understanding and reading engineering prints
Proficient in interpreting measurement results
PPAP, APQP, New product development experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Knowledge of ERP systems and statistical software
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Versed in collaborating effectively across multiple cross-functional groups in multiple levels of the company
