Job Description We're an IT intensive business, and we operate a state-of-the-art, specialised business-critical systems, 24/7. As we transition to a low-carbon energy future, this is an opportunity for someone to operate at a strategic level to shape and influence IT strategy and make a real impact as part of a centralised architecture function. The successful candidate will be responsible for steering IT projects down the right technical paths, managing not only the technical architecture choices but the impact of those choices on the overall solution approach. You will be responsible for ensuring that technology and application platforms are scalable, extensible and cost effective in line with IT strategy and customer needs. You will lead the creation of solution designs and roadmaps across EirGrid Group's IT estate. You will provide thought leadership and advocate industry best practices and principles. You will drive the evolution of the IT strategy, working together with colleagues to contribute to strategic planning and business planning activities. Job Relationships Reporting to the Head of IT Strategy & Emerging Technology. Key Responsibilities Shape solution options and influence strategic direction to ensure that the solutions designed are architecturally aligned Develop solution designs and supporting technical design documentation in compliance with architectural standards and principles Engage with business and technical IT stakeholders to define and design solutions to meet current and future business needs Develop an in-depth understanding of the specific business areas to which you are aligned and have an understanding of organisational interdependencies to ensure an enterprise view when designing solutions Working with Enterprise Architect, support the definition of roadmaps, ensuring that the appropriate technology capability benefits are identified and quantified. Identify the key investment decision points on existing technologies, ensuring that the appropriate technology capability benefits are identified and quantified. Support the establishment, definition, maintenance and communication of architecture guidelines, principles, standards and best practices. Identify the high-level costing and financing approach for key technology deployments from Ireland/ Northern Ireland perspective with a focus on regulatory engagement. Analyse technology industry and market trends and determine their potential impact on the enterprise and promote awareness of new and emerging technologies. Communicate effectively to technology and business stakeholders, including senior management team, via meetings, presentations and reports. Provide thought leadership and advocate industry best practices and principles. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential: Experience in an IT architecture role with a holistic understanding of application, data and infrastructure technologies. Excellent analytical, strategic planning and execution skills. Ability to lead and influence others to move towards a common vision or goal and able to work collaboratively with and through others. Expertise in applying technology to solve business problems, collaborating with business experts and service providers along the way. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and "sell" the concepts and objectives to the business, as well as technical leadership. A strong track record in architecting and planning the delivery of complex solutions.Desirable Industry certification in IT architecture. Agile and Scrum Master experience.
