Senior Controls Software Engineer, Automotive, Remote / Hybrid £350 - £400 p/d Umb 12m (ongoing) Unknown Recruitment is looking for an experienced Senior Controls Hardware Engineer to join our R&D client, this is an exciting opportunity to work on future powertrain technology research and development programmes. A key part of this will be the software development for the engine controller as it will have significant differences from existing combustion engine controllers. We need someone who is experienced in developing embedded control systems software using Simulink to ensure our success. Senior Controls Software Engineer Responsibilities: Technical responsibility for developing software functions and testing processes identified by our requirements and functional designs (Simulink tools) Working with suppliers where required to support software development activities Supporting the development of control system test and development tools, such as our Speedgoat HiL rig and various other small test rigs Providing software development support to the rest of the team for small custom electronics hardware as required (Simulink or C/C++ on development boards) Supporting the engine testing and calibration team with their use of the control system and any required debugging and fault-finding Supporting the rest of the controls team to overcome challenges that might require novel or custom embedded solutions to overcome Senior Controls Software Engineer Requirements: Required Skills: Fluent in Simulink/Stateflow development for embedded coder targets. Sound understanding of CAN/J1939/CCP/XCP protocols and familiarity with typical development tools (e.g., INCA, ATI Vision, Canape, Canalyzer, Busmaster, etc) Familiarity with day-to-day use of software versioning systems (CVS, SVN, git, etc) Desired Skills: Experience of developing Simlulink application code for typical commercial rapid-prototyping control systems (Pi Innovo OpenECU, Woodward Motorhawk, ETAS INTECRIO, Speedgoat, DSpace MABX, etc) Experience of Mathworks tools - System Composer, Simulink Requirements, Simulink Test, Simulink Real-time (previously Realtime Workshop RTW). Experience of test data post-processing using standard engineering tools (Matlab, AVL Concerto, Minitab, Python, etc) Familiarity with both Windows and Linux, with understanding of VMware and computer networking Experience of using CI tools to automate software testing (Jenkins, etc) Basic understanding of typical sensors, actuators and interface signalling types of devices used in both test and development and production combustion engines The person: Hands-on and experienced controls software engineer, who demonstrates a successful track record in delivery of challenging engine control solutions Comfortable with leading their tasks, including choosing and procuring necessary items and designing work processes Highly-motivated and desiring to make a significant contribution to the project Fluent in engine and engine systems technology and engineering A desire to work in a company built of very capable and friendly people with minimal management hierarchy where everyone s voice is valued
