Stepan is seeking a PTD Specialist II to join our PTD team in Elwood, Il. In this role, you will report to the PTD Sr Technical Manager. The PTD Specialist II demonstrates the ability to use and application of standard chemical engineering, project management, and other relevant principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to assignments where precedents may exist. The PTD Specialist II will provide solutions to a variety of problems that require collecting and analyzing data from diverse sources to solve problems. Demonstrates initiative and open-mindedness to identify and try new and different approaches. Contributes to the research and development of differentiated technology, products, processes, and systems.
Independently perform projects and assignments, such as developing flow diagrams, P&IDs, F&CDs, MOCs, equipment specifications, executing experimental plans, etc.
Design and modify processes according to internal safety standards
Apply basic chemical engineering principles, theories, and concepts to assignments with moderate supervision
Ability to gather, analyze, interpret relevant data and draw conclusions
Develop solutions to problems of limited scope and complicity using basic scientific knowledge with moderate supervision
Contribute to the research and development of new technology, products, processes, and systems
Knowledge of engineering resources and tools (e.g. Supply Chain Process Map, Aspen, Projects, Fastlook, Wonderware, Visio, etc.)
Understand and follow established Stepan work processes to complete projects (SOP, MOC, AFE, GMP, ISO, etc.)
Appropriately document project activities following Stepan policies (ELN, technical reports, project tracking, etc.) with minimal supervision
Share technical knowledge with internal customers
Communicate project results internally as well as project background, impact, and status with team
