Paralegal - Company and Commercial Location: Cheltenham Salary: £20,000 - £22,000 per annum Hours: 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday Key Responsibilities: Carry out company and commercial work in accordance with the Company s established procedures Assist the Directors and fee earners for whom you work with all administrative tasks, including typing/transcription of audio-dictation if required, opening files when required, and generally assisting in the conduct of cases Take telephone calls when requested and in particular deal with telephone calls when the relevant Director or fee earner is absent or unable to take calls Take messages and offer assistance, making a full and accurate note for the file Immediately refer all urgent or complicated matters to the relevant fee earner in the Department Take calls from new clients, take details and refer them to the appropriate fee earner Attend clients on straightforward matters and take instructions, for example prepared documents Deal with filing and file destruction in accordance with the Company s procedures Ensure all documents, files and evidence are correctly stored and indexed Maintain such copy documents and central record files and checklists as required Draft simple documents and letters under the supervision of the Directors or fee earners in the company and commercial Department Ensure all appointments, cancellations and alterations are accurately recorded Be proactive in your own training, requesting explanation and further information where necessary Undergo training in your main area of law, other peripheral areas and administrative functions Ensure all client matter related time is recorded Reach chargeable time recorded targets Key Skills/Experience: Basic knowledge of administration and legal procedures for company and commercial Basic knowledge of all other areas of law and how they relate to company and commercial work Experience of working in a Solicitors practice General knowledge of client care principles Excellent client service and telephone manner Excellent communication skills: verbal and written Excellent attention to detail Excellent IT skills: be able to use all main software packages, including Word, Outlook and Proclaim Teamwork: ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team Time Management: ability to plan and prioritise daily activities to achieve targets Ability to work under pressure: manage high volumes of work accurately and to tight deadlines Ability to be creative and use own initiative Excellent general office skills
