Lead Medical Registration Specialist

RAYUS Radiology, formerly Center for Diagnostic Imaging, is looking for a Lead Registration Specialist to join our team. Under the direction of the Office Supervisor/Operations Manager, the Lead Registration Specialist provides services to patients and referring professionals by cheerfully greeting and registering patients and performing other duties as assigned. You will also assist with training associates and managing staffing levels. This is a full-time position with a 6:00am-2:45pm schedule at our Renton, WA location. 


(55%) Registration

  • Greets and checks-in patients scheduled for imaging services; registers demographic information and processes payment plans and copays with patients
  • Fosters an environment where customer service is a priority
  • Fields calls appropriately for center associates
  • Calls patients to confirm upcoming appointments
  • Acts as liaison between technologists and the patients waiting for exams and relays messages regarding scanner status and other clinic information
  • Maintains front office lobby area by straightening magazines, organizing coffee supplies, and assisting with general office clean up
  • Prepares paperwork for daily and upcoming appointments
  • Faxes reports, billing requests, and medical release forms to referring offices as requested
  • Works closely with technologists to ensure patients have a smooth transition between the front office and technical areas


(15%) Staff Support

  • Assists in the training of new registration specialists
  • Leads regular staff meetings and associate one-on-ones
  • Initiates and participates in staff performance evaluations, development of associates including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions
  • Assists with managing overall staffing levels for adequate coverage at all times
  • Ensures comprehensive knowledge of company policies and procedures for registration associates


(10%) Insurance

  • Verifies patient's insurance
  • Pre-certifies all exams with patient's insurance company
  • Obtains insurance authorization
  • Uses knowledge of insurance carriers (example Medicare) and procedures that require waivers to obtain authorization if needed prior to appointment
  • Handles release of information requests for patients, referring offices, other medical facilities, attorneys & insurance companies following Company guidelines


(10%) Scheduling

  • Arranges transportation, interpreters, and hotel accommodations for patients when appropriate
  • Enters and submits patient exam orders
  • Verifies orders match exam schedules
  • Schedules referrals and ensures proper authorizations are obtained
  • Schedules walk-in patients


(5%) Medical Records

  • Processes requests for image orders and CDs from referring physicians and patients
  • Maintains an up-to-date and accurate database on all current and potential referring physicians


(5%) Completes other duties as assigned
