Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Housing Enforcement Officer to work in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £22.77 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company). The role: The post holder will work within Three Rivers Housing Services and report directly to the Strategic Housing Manager. The post holder will be the lead officer responsible for the day to day casework of the Residential Environmental Health team. The post holder will lead on inspections, investigations and advice given in relation to the statutory housing enforcement functions and other work areas of the Residential Environmental Health department. Key Responsibilities: To be responsible for the inspection of residential properties under Housing Health & Safety Rating System to identify and rate hazards in accordance with guidance issued under S9 of the Housing Act 2004. This to include enforcement action specifying appropriate remedial works to remove or reduce hazards and also responsible for the service of Improvement Notices; Prohibition Orders emergency closure and seizure, and Management Orders. Arranging and overseeing emergency prohibition works. To be responsible for ensuring that all enforcement documents are correctly drafted and compiled, including Emergency Prohibition, Closure notices Provide complex technical and professional advice, guidance, consultation and solutions to customers, staff, colleagues and external agencies to meet service delivery requirements. The lead officer responsible for the investigation of all Statutory Nuisances undertaken by the Residential Environmental Health department. This to include enforcement action specifying appropriate works to abate a nuisance and also responsible for the service of Abatement Notices; obtaining Court Warrants to seize equipment and application for permanent confiscation of such equipment where applicable. Also Responsible for investigation of all drainage complaints; identifying any blockages or structural faults and service of notices and work in default where necessary. The lead officer ultimately responsible for providing comments, or reviewing any comments made by the Housing Enforcement Officer, on any Planning Application required, within the time frame specified. The lead officer ultimately responsible for any actions related to a Section 61 application to the Council within the expected time frame. To ensure you are GDPR compliant and remain up to date with corporate procedures. Applicant Requirements: Qualifications: Degree/Diploma or equivalent qualification in environmental health. Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) or Chartered Status achieved. Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. Compliance: Proof of right to work in the UK and 3 years written references. Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently. Hours: 37 hours p/w.
