To manage the events team ensuring that all clients receive excellent service and all events are managed professionally. To be responsible for producing all client final details from the contract stage onwards and delivering those events on the day. To work as a key member of the venue management team and support where required.

What you will have an opportunity to do:

Key responsibilities

Client Services

  • To ensure the delivery of the highest standard of customer service at all times through effective management of the Events team as well as a hands on, leading by example approach.
  • To build relationships with event planners and exhibitors to ensure that their preferences are noted and understood and this is recorded in the notes section of EBMS for any future events they may hold
  • To ensure that client feedback is recorded and used to improve client service where required.
  • To maintain a system of review for all events to ensure that improvements are continually made and details amended for future business.
  • To participate in show rounds with the sales team where appropriate offering logistical advice.
  • To work with the Sales Manager, reviewing the bookings diary and forthcoming events to ensure client needs are understood and anticipated.
  • To ensure that up-selling of all services takes place at every opportunity.
  • To become familiar with the venue's annual business plan in order to help the client services team to achieve the relevant goals laid out in the plan.


  • To be responsible for and effectively manage all members of the events team.
  • To carry out twice-yearly appraisals with direct reports, implementing training and development plans.
  • To oversee Events team staff rotas to ensure correct staffing levels at all times.
  • To be responsible for all events team recruitment, induction and training.
  • To prepare weekly payroll for the Venue Manager's approval.
  • To ensure high standards of appearance are maintained within the events team.
  • To ensure that all members of the team complete all mandatory Health & Safety training, accompanied by the relevant signed documentation.


  • To follow up with clients to gain final details for all of their up and coming events.
  • Using EBMS, accurately produce the weekly function packs on time.
  • To attend, participate and contribute to the weekly function pack meetings in preparation for the following week and review feedback received.
  • To attend, participate and contribute to the daily function meetings to go through all events in the day and the following day .
  • To ensure that all information is communicated concisely to the F&B and Conference Services teams
  • To ensure all changes to events are recorded accurately in EBMS for invoicing purposes.
  • To answer the phone, take and pass any messages onto clients or staff.
  • Prepare all client logo's and upload them onto the digital room signage.

Health & Safety

  • To support the Venue Manager in ensuring all statutory procedures are carried out and documentation is kept up to date.
  • To support the Venue Manager with all relevant Risk Assessments including fire, HACCP, and COSHH.

Sales & Marketing

  • To support the sales team and carry out client show rounds for pre-booked events and offering logistical advice.
  • To assist the Sales Manager and sales team in the delivery of tactical sales activities in order to achieve budgeted revenues.


  • To be available for staff briefings and company events.
  • To be available for weekend and evening work where required.
  • Carry out any reasonable request for ad hoc duties by the Venue Manager.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous leadership experience in Banquets is required

  • Strong, intuitive ability to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Proficient knowledge with both AV and IT.
  • Management/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of maintaining all audio-visual equipment, to include storage.
  • Experience reading and understanding Banquet Event Orders
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all guests and team members.
  • Experience with scheduling, hiring, and training team members.
