JOB TITLE: Database Engineer

REPORTS TO: Manager of Data Science and Analytics

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION: Bachelor's or master's degree in quantitative field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or equivalent alternative education, skills and/or practical equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Data analysis and data modeling
  • Report building and ad-hoc analysis
  • Using internal and external data sources (e.g. Salesforce, Claritas, etc.) to create analytical reports
  • Data querying languages (such as SQL, python, Hive, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Using data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Utilizing web services and third provider data services
  • Developing analytics solutions using "Big Data" tools and techniques (Azure tools a plus)

MAJOR JOB TASKS:
  • Work with cross functional teams and IT leaders to identify business opportunities and frame the analytics problem.
  • Design and implement data solutions using industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support in developing and maintaining database applications with a substantial focus on data conversion and data integration supporting analytics with back-end billing, marketing, provisioning, fiber and electrical mapping, SCADA, and outage databases.
  • Create scripts for data maintenance and system integration, as well as custom processes, ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) and XML or similar web services integration between systems.
  • Monitor and maintain data pipelines proactively to ensure high service availability.
  • Create scripts for data integration, data maintenance, automation, and bug fixes.
  • Analyze, define, and document system requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, interfaces with other systems, auditing, reporting requirements and production configuration.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reports if needed.
  • Preserve confidentiality and security of Cooperative data.

Vendors, Consultants, and Technology Companies: To evaluate and implement data models, database platforms, reporting tools, and related monitoring

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • All specific equipment related to Information Technology as well as routine office equipment. Must have valid driver's license without violation, which would prohibit insurability.
  • Strong attention to detail. Strong organizational and planning skills. Impeccable written and verbal communication skills. Problem Solving, Process Improvement, Project Management, and Reporting
  • Work is performed in an office environment with higher and/or longer noise level than average. Weekends, evening hours, overtime and/or overnight travel will occasionally be necessary.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Occasional lifting, up to 25 pounds, required. Normal vision and hearing required.
