About the job The commercial services at Arts Students Union consist of two cafes: The Blueprint Café, Holborn and the Café at Central Saint Martin s, King s Cross. In addition to the cafes with also operate the Darkroom bar at Elephant and Castle. The role of Commercial Supervisor at Arts Students Union will primarily coordinate the activities of the Blueprint Café and the Darkroom bar. Duties will include stock control, staff rostering and training, ordering and the general maintenance of the physical spaces. The Blueprint café s product range consists almost entirely of hot and cold drinks, confectionery, pastries and other snacks. An additional feature of the Blueprint café is the provision of catering services to staff working within the building. These services can range from a simple request for teas and coffees to a banquette-like event. The café also includes a space for the display of our recently established Student Union merchandise of hoodies and Tote bags. We plan on re-opening the Darkroom bar in September in time for the 22/23 academic year. The hospitality supervisor will also ensure daily operations of the bar and undertake an evening duty shift possibly once a week. Duties between the outlets will be split depending on the weekly needs of the outlets. All our outlets are open Monday to Friday with the unlikely possibility of weekend work. Who we are looking for? We are looking for someone with prior experience of a leading role within a café, preferably as a trained barista with knowledge of licensing regulations and not necessarily within a Student Union environment. Someone with a functions background, financial acumen, who can lead a team to meet objectives, organised, meticulous and someone who is prepared to have fun and engage with a great variety of people across an extensive cross-section of society.
