The Bellwether Beach Resort is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Catering Sales Manager to join our team! You will be coordinating social functions on beautiful St. Pete Beach by ascertaining detailed information regarding all aspects of the event, publishing detailed contracts and advising the client during the planning process to ensure a successful event.

What you will have an opportunity to do:

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • Working knowledge of a hotel.

  • 5 - 7 years previous experience in the hospitality industry.

  • 3 - 5 years previous experience in catering sales

  • Highly developed communication skills.

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Publisher and able to learn the FDC Delphi system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Sell catered functions with a focus on weddings, social events and day meetings achieving all revenue targets and profitability goals individually and for the team.

2. Respond and sell to all telephone and walk-in inquiries within set standards.

3. Keep abreast of all local organizations and their meeting plans, etc.

4. Perform outside sales calls, to gain new business and maintain relationships.

5. Complete approved number of prospect sales calls daily.

6. Ensure orderly and accurate catering sales files and computerization of such files are maintained.

7. Prepare catering contracts and proposals.

8. Detail all catered functions in conjunction with culinary, banquets and hotel operations.

9. Implement strategies toward gaining new markets, increasing average checks, upselling menu items, etc.

10. Correctly retaining records, files and logs in accordance with established procedures.

11. Recommend profit improvements to Catering & Conference Services Manager.

12. Practice safety standards and report any unsafe conditions to the Catering & Conference Services Manager.

13. Remain alert, courteous and helpful to guests at all times.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform other related duties as requested by Manager.

2. Interface positively with other departments, offering assistance when needed.

3. Stay current with Delphi trace list and account data.

ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor environment with carpeted surfaces. Well lit with good ventilation. Outdoor environment with exposure to elements.
