What you will have an opportunity to do:

Catering Intern:

Learning, adapting and assisting with the Catering and Event Sales Team at a fun and exciting location is the essence of the Catering Intern's role at the Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe. Your gained experience, professionalism and knowledge of the market and resort will positively affect both the Resort and your performance. Coordinating social functions by ascertaining detailed information regarding all aspects of the event, publishing detailed contracts and advising the client during the planning process to ensure a successful event while building strong relationships with both internal and external clients for the future success of your career and for Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe.

Resort Overview:

The Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe offers 335 Lakefront suites, including 32 lakefront, stand-alone cottages, with personal boat slips exclusively for the cottage guests. In addition, along with a 72,000 square foot, IACC-Approved Conference Center, a walk-on, 18-hole resort golf course, a family-friendly, 3-acre lakefront water park with a lazy river and multiple pools, a 37,000 square foot full-service spa, and an extensive 24-hour, health, racquet and fitness center. This resort will also offer an extraordinary culinary experience.

Job Description/What you will learn:

  • Handles assigned markets based upon experience and depth of contact base to benefit the catering department
  • The ability to strategically direct and maintain the sales process
  • Responsible for the selling and contracting of small social events and corporate meetings; events to handle servicing.
  • Knowledgeable of resort's competitive set and recommends sales/pricing strategies, service and product improvements/up sell strategies to outpace the competition.
  • Thorough knowledge of property, space, capacities, concept/food style (menus)
  • Active participation in the sales lead/revenue generating process for the department
  • Responsible for embracing and using the Benchmark Sales Essentials
  • Responsible for embracing and using the Benchmark Sales platform; SalesBoost
  • Work with Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager to create and create compelling and effective custom menus
  • Actively participates in the DBR meeting
  • Review costing policy with Executive Chef to ensure maximizing profitability
  • Ensure that accurate and thorough notes/traces of accounts are maintained via. fdc

What are we looking for?

Knowledge of food/wine is essential High level of creativity, enthusiasm and flexibility Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook. Delphi experience preferred. Well organized, detail oriented with excellent follow-up Must possess excellent communication skills both internally and externally Ability to communicate in the English language both written and verbal, with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy when engaging with others.
