UK College of Business and Computing has a fantastic new opportunity for a Career Advisor to join the team. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week, spread over 6 days (Monday - Saturday) and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,000, £32,000 per annum depending on experience. UK College of Business and Computing (UKCBC) is an established provider of Higher Education. The College currently operates from 2 campuses across London and has a growing student population. UKCBC has recently embarked on the partnership with the University of West London to deliver a variety of academic programmes. This is an exciting time to join a growing team and we are looking for Career Advisor who can lead the course and of supporting the programme and partnership expansion. We are looking for course coordinators to cover the following levels: Undergraduate courses Postgraduate courses Foundation courses UKCBC has 2 campuses throughout London including our sister company UKCE. The College has also started to venture internationally with a new Campus opened in 2018 in Dubai International Academic City. About the Career Advisor Role: The Role of Career Advisor is about building relationships with your students, with the goal of empowering them to make strong choices. Working to improve self-awareness and suggesting areas for development will encourage the setting of positive and achievable objectives. As well as one-to-one sessions, there s also the possibility of delivering group workshops. Key Duties and Responsibilities of our Career Advisor: Liaising with external partners, including employers, learning providers and career guidance services to ensure effective implementation of the careers plan. To fully participate in ongoing training and development activities and be responsible for keeping up to date with learning opportunities; Enabling students to develop and implement career management skills through providing access to a range of methods including individual guidance (face to face), group work and on-line support; Referring students to work and training opportunities as appropriate Providing information and advice to students so that they can assist them with their career planning. Maintaining regular contact with employers for new job opportunities. Attending local career fairs, industry conferences and other networking events to generate new employers. Developing outreach programs to promote career advisement services among students Helping students in resume preparation, interview skills, and job search strategies Guiding each graduate on effective career search process. Educating students on job search skills and industry trends in order to get them prepared for employment. Conducting career advisement sessions for current students, recent graduates and alumni. Discussing with students how to overcome any barriers to reaching their goals and refer them for advice where appropriate. What we re looking for in our Career Advisor: Bachelor s Degree or equivalent Previous experience working within a Library and/or college setting Strong communication, observational and listening skills The ability to motivate and build a rapport with people A flexible and adaptable approach to work An empathetic, non-judgmental and ethical approach The ability to work autonomously and manage your own caseload Team working skills and the capability to work under pressure Organisational and problem-solving skills Familiarity with technology The ability to build a productive working relationship with your students in a short space of time A non-judgmental attitude and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds The ability to motivate and inspire An understanding of your own beliefs that may influence your responses Knowledge of confidentiality Excellent organisational skills to manage students and associated paperwork Networking skills for widening your students base and gaining contacts within the coaching industry.
